It seems that inclimate weather is just about everywhere these days. Snow & ice through the midwest and south east ... and it's been raining cats and dogs here in San Luis Obispo.
The bad news is that my soccer team's game schedule (and those of my kids, too) has been terribly impacted.
The good news is that it's given me some time to clean and organize. I rediscovered the wood surface of my desk last week and have been madly scanning and filing documents to remove clutter.
I'll tell you, Clearing Clutter is one of the best therapies to which you can treat yourself, especially in challenging economic times. It's healthy (less dust and germs). It forced me to address issues I've been putting off for months which relieves stress ... and it has made my work habits more productive and time efficient.
So here's a suggestion that I'll just throw out there - take a couple hours this week, find a space that you use regularly ... and clear the clutter.
Let me know how that works for you. Did it help? ... or do you feel worse? Send me photos. I'd love to see a before and after.

Last week on Wednesday I got to spend a couple hours with my good friend, Elisabeth Donati who is the founder of Creative Wealth International - a non-profit think tank in Santa Barbara that produces financial literacy programs for kids and adults with a special focus on Wealth for Women.
She shared with me all the new projects on which she is working including a new board game to help people understand their own "money blueprint," an app for the iPhone to share a financial principle each day and a few other projects that are too secret to share just yet.
The woman is a dynamo and is absolutely on the forefront of the financial literacy movement.
The challenge that Elisabeth and I are both confronting is the seeming laize faire attitude towards understanding how money really works. Admission to her camps has dropped dramatically since this economic crisis hit.
You might think that hard times would get folks to seek out MORE information about money. Knowledge is the only way anyone can dig their way out of their (self inflicted) problems. But no. More and more people are sticking their head deeper into the sand on personal finance issues.
This is a trend that I have noticed in my own work, too ... and it is a very sad trend.
We cannot fix our problems today by ignoring them. We cannot fix this crisis by using the same thinking that created the crisis. Putting off financial problems until tomorrow will only insure that those problems will be worse and even more difficult to solve.
If you know someone who has financial questions, I ask you to encourage them to seek help from a professional. Have them rent books from the library. Tell them to take advantage of my free 15-minute consult (one question, 15 minutes, no obligation - $40 value).
Knowledge is Power. It is the one type of power NOBODY can steal from you once you have it.
Since you get this email, I know you understand this principle. I only ask that you share it with those you love ... because they really need your help.
Best wishes,
John
